The Laboratory for Characterization and Processing of Polymers - LCPP is active within Institute of Engineering Materials and Design at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Maribor. Four main activity areas of the laboratory are:

EDUCATION
Education of full- and part-time students, continuing professional education concerning standardisation, new materials, new finishing processes, new testing methods, etc.

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Numerous basic and applied research projects, projects for development of technologies and new products for Slovenian industry, subsidized by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Republic of Slovenia.

SERVICES
Support for industry and small - size companies in the form of services, knowledge and information transfer. Activity areas of our laboratory are not interesting only for the textile industry, but also for the chemical, leather, rubber, cosmetic, metallurgic and electronic industry, as well as for medicine, biochemical industry, and industries producing synthetic materials, paper and glue.

ORGANISATION OF PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Above all concerning current methods for material testing, fibre identification and basics of determination of material composition, contemporary finishing processes (for example: non - formaldehyde crosslinkage), testing of finishing effects, basics of surface phenomena, standardisation novelties.
